How to fix the issue that Apple iOS 18.1 users from India still do not see Apple's new AI features as default.

Apple's iOS update 18.1 brings new AI features, but many Indians can't access it. The main barriers are device compatibility and language setting.

Apple's iOS 18.1 update introduces a suite of AI-powered apps known as Apple Intelligence. These features were announced at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June and are now available globally. Many users in India have difficulty accessing these features, even after upgrading to iOS 18.1.

Compatibility is one of the main reasons that iOS 18.1 features do not appear on your phone. Apple Intelligence can only be accessed on the latest devices. This includes the iPhone 16 and iPhone 15 Pro series, iPads that have the A17 Pro processor, the iPad Mini, as well as Macs with a M1 or later chip. Users with older devices will need to upgrade in order to enjoy the new features.

Apple Intelligence will not be available by default, even if your device is eligible. To change the language settings, users will need to choose to participate. Apple Intelligence currently only available in English (US). Indian users will need to change the default language of their device to English (US), in order to use these AI features. Apple Intelligence will require them to switch the language from English (US), as well.

Users will not be able to access the features immediately after this change. To unlock these features, users must sign up for a waiting list in the Apple Intelligence menu. Apple says that it will take some time for the features to download. According to our experience, downloads only begin when you are connected to Wi-Fi.

Waitlists can also be caused by backend processing requirements. Apple Intelligence's generative AI is dependent on remote servers to perform intensive computing tasks. Staggered deployment can help prevent server overload. This entire process may frustrate users who expect to be able to use new AI features.

Apple Intelligence requires more than simply updating the software. It is necessary to wait for resources on the backend, adjust language settings, and ensure that your device is compatible. These additional steps can be discouraging for Indian users who are eager to test Apple's AI tools.

Indian users must have a device that is compatible with Apple Intelligence. This includes the iPhone 16 and iPhone 15 Pro. They also need to use an iPad with A17 Pro or Macs running M1 or higher. The device must be set to English (US). They also need to have patience to wait and join the waitlist. Apple's AI tools will remain a barrier to many Indian users until it expands to other languages, and improves the access.
