Karan Johar Raises Rs 2.5 Crore for Tata Memorial Hospital Charity Event Post Dharma Deal With Adar Poonawalla



Karan Johar recently made headlines after selling half his Dharma Productions stake to Adar Poonawalla for $50 Million USD, then hosting the 12th Annual Charity Gala for Move for Cancer Awareness Foundation (M-Can). Maheka Mirpuri joined him at this year's gala event.


The auction raised Rs 2.25 crores (2.25 crores) for Tata Memorial Hospital to treat and prevent head-and-neck cancer. Maheka Mirpuri has worked closely with Tata Memorial Hospital, Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, MCAN Charity Galas since 2011 to raise money for underprivileged cancer patients.


Karan Johar feels strongly connected to Tata Memorial Hospital due to the death of his father Yash Johar from cancer, whom he expressed his appreciation to Tata Memorial Hospital's outstanding work, commending Maheka for her dedication and imploring everyone to show kindness towards patients less fortunate.


Maheka said, "We're truly honored that Karan Johar will join us again this year to support the M-Can Foundation and Tata Memorial Hospital. Karan Johar is an extraordinary individual with an enormous heart who has done remarkable things for them - such as hosting an auction for them that brought in over $220,000." She added, "His personal connection makes this event all the more impactful, especially because this cause means something very personal to her - she lost loved ones to cancer so seeing Karan Johar serve is something special - I see myself simply as an intermediary."


She stated: "This year marks our second successful attempt at raising 2,25 CR for our foundation, which we hope will allow us to help underprivileged patients access treatment. I am deeply appreciative of my friends for their generous donations every year - thank you all so much!" "I am dedicated to this cause with the assistance of all those who have supported me! "


Maheka's Modern Maharani collection was also on display, and her jewellery partner Aulerth added their own personal flair. Sunil Gavaskar was present, along with Urmila Matondkar and Laila Khan; Zarine Khan and Malaika Khan; Madhur Bhandarkar with Bhagyashree and Abhimanyu Dassani as well as Poonam Dhillon; Queenie Sing Madhoo Shah Aamir Ali suchitra Krishnamoorthi Suchitra Pillai and Queenie Sing. Poonam Dhillon made up this year's lineup!


Serene Productions, owned by Adar, announced on Monday that it will acquire 50% of Karan Dharma Productions as well as its digital arm Dharmatic Entertainment for Rs 1,000 crore in an investment valued at Rs2,000 billion by Adar's subsidiary Serene Productions. Karan commented on this deal by saying, "This partnership embodies our emotional storytelling skills with forward-thinking strategies - something only possible through global entertainment while honoring roots. I couldn't be more proud to welcome Serene into my world!"
